Dental Implants

Dental implants are one of the greatest accomplishments of modern dentistry, allowing patients with missing teeth to lead a normal life again. Other tooth replacements require extra steps to maintain, are less secure, and simply don’t last. With implants, the appliance is maintained by simple brushing and flossing; you can’t beat that!

At Harvey Dental in Kinston, NC, we are proud to present this treatment option to patients. Call today or book online to schedule a visit with us, and take advantage of your free implant consultation! Dental implants are the ideal solution, and we hope you will consider them while rebuilding your beautiful smile.

Single Implants

A single implant is designed to replace one missing tooth; this type of implant is composed of three separate components: the post, abutment, and dental crown.

  • The post is made from strong titanium material, a biocompatible alloy capable of fusing to your natural bone structure.
  • The abutment is a connecting piece utilized to securely snap onto the post and serve as a foundation for the crown to be cemented.
  • The dental crown is the final touch; it is the prosthetic appliance that appears and functions just like a natural tooth.

Once we surgically insert the post, a period of three to six months will be required for adequate healing. During this time, the titanium will begin to bond to the surrounding bone tissue. This ensures that the crown is as stable as a healthy, natural tooth. While dental implants are designed to last a lifetime, your crown may need to be replaced every 15 years.

Implant-Supported Bridges

An implant-supported bridge is similar to a traditional bridge; the only difference is that this appliance is secured to implants instead of your healthy teeth. The benefit of choosing an implant-supported bridge is that the health of your natural teeth is left uncompromised; we will not be required to prepare any of your healthy teeth by reducing their size and reshaping them.

  • Just as we perform single implant surgery, titanium rods will be inserted into your jawbone and left to heal.
  • After they have integrated with the jawbone, we will cap the abutments with the bridge appliance.

An implant-supported dental bridge is best used when filling a gap of three or more subsequent missing teeth.

Full Arch Dental Implants

Do you have an entire arch of missing teeth? Dentures are not your only option; allow us to offer you something much better.

A full arch dental implant is a prosthetic designed to fill an entire arch of missing teeth. The entire appliance can be held in place with as few as four dental implants! The surgery will proceed in the same way as it would for the single implants or bridge, but after healing, you will have an entire, full-arch prosthetic secured into place.
